0086-138 3838 9622Installation work is currently in progress for a 2 t/h tofu cat litter production line at a facility outside Kuala Lumpur — RICHI’s technical team arrived on-site last week to begin equipment positioning.
Tofu cat litter manufacturing starts with soybean residue, specifically the byproduct (okara) from tofu/soy milk production facilities in the region. This is a material that’s sticky, high in residual moisture, and needs to go through a specific extrusion process rather than a standard pellet mill setup.
The line configuration: mixing system where the soybean fiber is blended with a small percentage of corn starch as binder, twin-screw extruder for shaping (this replaces the ring die pellet mill you’d see in a feed or biomass line), cutting mechanism, drying tunnel, and a final cooling/packaging conveyor.
One thing the buyer didn’t initially account for: the drying tunnel needs to be longer than what’s typical for feed pellets because tofu litter pellets need to retain a degree of porosity for clumping performance. RICHI’s engineers recommended extending the tunnel section by roughly 1.5 meters during the design review — a change that was approved before fabrication.
Electrical connections and the extruder mounting are the current focus this week. Trial production runs are expected within 10 days, pending final calibration of the extruder’s screw speed against the okara’s moisture content, which fluctuates batch to batch depending on the tofu factory’s process that day.
