Site: Sri Lanka
Customer type: Coconut/fiber processor
New RICHI scope: Coarse reduction + secondary crushing + conveying
Design handling rate: 8 t/h prepared coconut husk/fiber basis
Project type: Modular processing system
Downstream purpose: Controlled fiber preparation for further industrial processing
Installation has begun on an 8 t/h coconut husk crushing system at an existing Sri Lankan fiber-processing facility. The first machines positioned on site are not pellet mills. They are intended to solve the physical problem created by bulky coconut residues before downstream processing begins.
Installation Diary
Day 1 — Infeed area marked
The site team confirmed the working envelope for receiving prepared husk material and the maintenance clearance around the coarse-reduction machine.
Day 2 — Shredding section positioned
The primary machine was aligned with the infeed conveyor. Its role is to open and reduce bulky husk/fiber, not produce final fine powder.
Day 3 — Secondary crusher support installed
After coarse reduction, material can enter a secondary crushing stage where the customer requires a smaller and more consistent fraction.
Day 4 — Transfer equipment connected
RICHI began linking the coarse and secondary stages with conveyors. Transfer design is especially important for fibrous material that can bridge or accumulate at narrow discharge points.
Next — Dust control and electrical work
The remaining work includes aspiration interfaces, guards, electrical connections and no-load checks.
Sri Lanka’s coconut-processing industry provides the project with a real raw-material base. But coconut husk should not be confused with coconut shell: husk is highly fibrous, while shell is a harder lignocellulosic material and can require a different crushing approach.
That distinction shaped the equipment configuration.
The modular system therefore creates a focused entry around coconut husk crusher machines, coconut fiber shredding equipment, coir waste size reduction, and coconut residue pretreatment systems without turning the story into another generic biomass pellet project.
Material commissioning will begin only after the mechanical and electrical installation is complete.
