3-4T/H Biomass Pellet Production Line in Canada

Biomass Pellet Production Line in Canada

The global demand for biomass pellets is increasing, especially in the European and Asian markets. Canada exports up to 4 million tons of biomass pellets to Europe each year, most of which are produced from forestry by-products.

With the growth of global energy demand and the increasing depletion of fossil energy resources, the development and utilization of renewable energy sources have become increasingly important. As a renewable energy source, biomass pellets have great development potential and have been widely used in Europe, North America and other places, and have gradually become one of the important options for replacing traditional energy.

The prospects of the biomass pellet processing industry are unquestionable. It is based on this prospect that the project client, an investor who entered the biomass pellet industry for the first time, invested US$350,000 to build this 8,000-ton annual biomass fuel processing project in order to seize the market opportunities for industrial development.

The biomass pellet production line in Canada project uses wood waste and straw waste to process pellets. The project has 8 employees, 300 production days per year, and an 8-hour shift.

Note:

The raw materials used in this biomass pellet production line in Canada must be pure biomass.

It is strictly prohibited to use or mix waste wooden furniture, construction waste biomass, waste furniture boards, processing sawdust dust and other waste materials, waste paper, domestic garbage, industrial waste and other waste materials containing paint, adhesives and other artificial synthetic compounds to make biomass fuel; it is strictly prohibited to add harmful substances such as coal, tar, coal tar fossil fuels.

The product should be non-toxic, harmless and odorless to prevent secondary pollution.

  • Wood processing waste: It comes from forest wood materials and the residues generated during the processing process, such as sawdust, shavings, bamboo and wood scraps, waste construction wood, furniture factory scraps, etc. Do not use waste containing paint, adhesives and other artificial synthetic compounds or construction and furniture scraps containing other toxic and harmful substances.
  • Straw: Crop straw is the remaining part after the harvest of crop seeds, such as corn straw, wheat straw, flax straw, etc. They are all dry raw materials and are stored in the raw material workshop in bulk bags.
  • Waste wood: waste wood from tree pruning or tree replacement in surrounding towns and villages.

Biomass pellet fuel is a renewable new energy source. It is made from agricultural and forestry waste such as wood chips, corn stalks, rice stalks, and rice husks. After crushing, drying, and extrusion, biomass pellet fuel is finally produced. It can replace firewood, raw coal, fuel oil, and liquefied gas. It is widely used in heating, biostoves, hot water boilers, industrial boilers, and biomass power plants.

It is a green and environmentally friendly biomass energy. The raw materials of this project come from the surrounding areas of the project (about 100km around), where biomass resources are very rich and there are good conditions for the development and utilization of biomass energy.

Based on the objective factors such as the size and moisture of the customer’s raw materials, the plant structure, and the customer’s budget, the RICHI engineering team designed the following biomass fuel pellet processing process for the biomass pellet production line in Canada project:

The raw materials are transported into the factory by truck. Large waste trees and waste wood are piled in the raw material storage area outside the factory. Straw, rice straw, waste bamboo, wood shavings, sawdust, scraps and other bulk raw materials with smaller volume are sent to the raw material workshop for stacking.

The raw materials need to be uniformly crushed and pulverized. The raw materials are shoveled into the feed port by a forklift. The crusher crushes the raw materials into crushed materials with a particle size of about 3-5cm, and then falls into the crusher below for crushing.

The raw materials are crushed to a particle size of 6-8mm. During the crushing process, some raw materials that cannot be completely crushed to meet the specifications will be produced. They are screened by the sieve plate below.

The particles with a particle size of more than 8mm (screened materials) are returned to the crushing process, and the qualified crushed materials with a particle size of less than 8mm (screened materials) enter the next process.

The crusher, pulverizer and screen plate are all placed in the same closed equipment space. The first layer is the crusher, and the second layer is the pulverizer. A screen plate is set under the pulverizer.

The qualified raw materials after crushing, pulverizing and screening finally fall into the conveyor belt below. The materials are sent to the stacking area through the conveyor belt. The conveyor belt is equipped with a magnetic iron remover to absorb the iron debris remaining in the material.

The crushed materials are shoveled to the natural drying area for temporary storage by a forklift. The crushed materials are placed in the natural drying area for no more than one week. The wet materials are tightly stacked and fermented to generate heat under the action of bacteria.

The heat will take away the moisture inside the materials and reduce their moisture content. The moisture content of the materials after natural drying will drop to about 20%, and the stacking temperature will not exceed 40°C.

The moisture content of the materials is about 20%. The moisture content of the materials needs to be further reduced through the drying process before entering the granulation process.

The material is sent to the continuous dryer through a closed conveyor for drying to remove moisture from the material. The drying method adopts the drum rotary airflow drying method (drying temperature is about 85~90℃, and drying time is about 10 minutes).

This biomass pellet production line in Canada project sets a dryer for the drying process. The dryer adopts an electric heating device and uses air as a heat carrier to provide high-temperature clean hot air for the equipment. It is an efficient and energy-saving heating equipment.

After the electric heating element is energized, it generates heat to heat the air, and then the hot air is introduced into the drying rotating drum through the fan. The heated hot air directly contacts the biomass raw material in the drum.

The drum rotates to heat the material evenly, generating heat exchange to dry the material. The moisture content of the dried material is controlled at about 10%. After drying, the material is sent to the next process through a closed conveyor.

After drying, the raw material is transported to the biomass granulator by the conveyor belt. The main shaft in the biomass pellet machine rotates, driving the roller to rotate. After the roller rotates, the material is forced to be extruded from the ring die hole in granular form, thereby obtaining a formed biomass pellet fuel.

The biomass pellets obtained in the pelletizing process are sent to the storage silo by a closed conveyor for natural cooling. The silo is equipped with loose ventilation holes to facilitate the natural cooling of the finished product.

The finished biomass pellets are packaged by a fully automatic packaging machine. The moisture content of the finished product mainly comes from the material itself. During the production process, most of the moisture in the material evaporates with heat. The moisture content of the material after mixing is about 28%, and the moisture content of the final product is reduced to about 10% (≤13%).

This biomass pellet production line in Canada project uses the customer’s existing factory for production. The layout of the production plant is basically arranged according to the product process flow. The gate is located on the west side of the plant. The plant is roughly divided into two parts.

The northern part of the plant is mainly for finished products and raw materials, and the southern part is mainly for production. The production area can be divided into crushing and grinding area, drying area, drying area, granulation area, packaging area, etc. according to the process.

All production is carried out in the plant. The open space on the west, north and east sides of the plant is only used for stacking large raw materials (such as waste trees, waste wood, etc.); there is no employee canteen and dormitory in the plant.

The plan layout of the Canada biomass pellet plant project makes full use of the plant space and resources. All equipment is placed in the plant. The plan layout of the project is simple and practical, the overall functional division is clear, the plan layout is compact, and the production needs of each production process are basically guaranteed. The layout is reasonable.
