As an important agricultural and forestry resource country in Southeast Asia, Vietnam has vast tropical forest resources and a developed wood and bamboo processing industry.
Every year, a large amount of by-products such as bamboo chips, sawdust, shavings, branches and crop straw are produced in the process of furniture manufacturing, building materials processing, and bamboo products production. On the one hand, these wastes are large in size, occupy space, and are difficult to handle; on the other hand, they contain rich calorific value and have great energy conversion potential.
At the same time, Vietnam is accelerating towards the goal of clean energy and green low-carbon development, and the national energy strategy is gradually reducing its dependence on coal. Especially in rural areas, industrial parks, food processing and other fields, the demand for biomass fuels is growing.
Against this background, an environmental protection technology company located in northern Vietnam, relying on the rich local agricultural and forestry waste resources, invested in the construction of a 4 tons/hour, 10,000 tons per year wood bamboo pellet production line in Vietnam.
The bamboo wood pellet production line project integrates the raw material resources of bamboo chopstick processing plants, wood processing enterprises and agricultural cooperatives, and converts waste into renewable clean energy through advanced granulation technology, which helps green energy substitution and resource recycling.
The project has a labor quota of 12 people, including 3 management personnel and 9 production personnel, none of whom are boarded and lodged in the factory area. The annual work is 300 days, with one shift system, 8 hours per shift.

Project content and scale
This wood bamboo pellet production line in Vietnam project covers an area of 1727.8m2 and a total construction area of 1727.8m2. It is renovated and divided based on the existing buildings on the site. It mainly builds a production workshop, block material yard, and water supply and power supply facilities.
The main functions of the production workshop include raw material stacking and screening, raw material slicing and crushing, drying, granulation packaging and finished product storage. After the project is completed, it will produce 10,000 tons of biomass pellet fuel annually, and the products will be mainly sold to surrounding areas.
The production plant of this project uses the existing storage room, which has 3 one-story brick-concrete buildings and a 2.8-meter-high brick masonry wall; this project will build a new steel frame roof and four-sided enclosures on the basis of the existing buildings on the rented site; the block material yard covers an area of 799.2m2, and the relevant equipment is arranged and installed according to the process flow and requirements.
The wood bamboo pellet production line in Vietnam project has two entrances and exits, located on the west side of the road in the factory area. The south side is the raw material storage and screening area, the west side is the drying area, the north side is the slicing and crushing area, and the east side is the mixing, granulation and product packaging storage area.

Raw materials and energy consumption
The raw materials used in this wood bamboo pellet production line in Vietnam project are mainly bamboo chips, sawdust, wood chips, shavings, branches, straw and other agricultural and forestry wastes. Bamboo chips mainly come from bamboo chopstick processing plants, and sawdust and shavings mainly come from wood processing plants.
The project site has sufficient sources of raw materials to fully guarantee the operation of the project. The transportation of raw materials is entrusted to social forces, and they are all transported back to the factory area raw material warehouse with truck sheds for stacking. The raw material warehouse is semi-enclosed and not stacked in the open air.
The fuel required for the dryer of this project is the biomass pellets produced by the project itself, and no highly polluting fuels such as coal are used. The main raw materials and energy consumption are shown in the table below.

Product plan
Since the product sales target is industrial and civilian use, the pellet production will be processed into rods (different thicknesses) according to different fuel equipment and usage ranges. Production is arranged according to rod diameters of 6-10 mm and lengths of 0.5-5 cm to be suitable for use in various boilers and kilns, with an annual production plan of 10,000 tons.

Process flow design of Vietnamese bamboo wood pellet production line
This bamboo wood pellet factory project is mainly engaged in the production of biomass pellet fuel. Its production process is described as follows:
The main raw materials of this wood bamboo pellet production line in Vietnam project are agricultural and forestry waste (bamboo sawdust, wood shavings, straw, etc.), which need to be sliced, crushed, dried, etc. according to the moisture content, particle size, etc. of the purchased raw materials before pelletizing.
(1) Slicing:
Cut bamboo, straw, branches and large blocks that cannot be directly crushed into small pieces with a slicer.
(2) Crushing:
Crusher the agricultural and forestry waste to a particle size of less than 5 mm. This process generates dust and equipment operation noise. The crusher is only equipped with a feed port and a discharge port. After feeding, the feed port is closed to reduce dust escape. The discharge port is connected to the Shaklon dust collector.
The cyclone dust collector uses the principle of centrifugal force to separate the crushed materials. The crushed materials are deposited in the dust collector and discharged through the feed port. The gas is discharged from the Shaklon dust collector and then processed by the bag dust collector. All the collected dust is reused in the production line.
(3) Drying:
About 30% of the total raw materials have a moisture content of 55% (the data provided by the owner is between 50% and 60%, and this environmental impact assessment takes 55%), which does not meet the requirements of granulation.
These raw materials with excessive moisture content need to be dried to make their moisture content meet the pelletizing requirements (moisture content less than 13%). The moisture content of the raw materials after drying is about 10%. The dryer of this project is equipped with a biomass burner, and the fuel is the biomass pellets produced by the project.
(4) Conveying and feeding:
The raw materials are sucked into the pelletizing machine feed port through the feeding auger.
(5) Granulation:
The raw materials are fed into the bamboo wood pellet machine through the feeding auger and made into finished products through extrusion. The extrusion process is a physical process, without adding any adhesives and no chemical reaction. Except for the connection of the feeding auger and the discharge port, the equipment is sealed.
(6) Lifting and conveying cooling:
The biomass pellets after granulation are naturally cooled through transportation so that their temperature can reach the conditions for packaging and storage, and finally transported to the finished product warehouse.
(7) Packaging:
The hot pellets are screened at the end of the conveyor belt, and qualified biomass pellets fall into the finished product bin. The bottom of the finished product bin is a funnel-shaped discharge port, and the finished products can fall directly into the packaging bags.
After being packed with a baler, they can be stored and sold. After being formed, the biomass pellets have been compacted and basically no dust is generated during the bagging process. Unqualified products are discharged and collected and returned to the pelletizing process.

(1) Power supply
The power consumption of this wood bamboo pellet production line in Vietnam project is 873,000 kW.h/a. The power consumption of the project is connected to the power grid. This project sets up a 315KVA transformer in the plant area to supply power to various power consumption parts in the plant area, which can meet the power consumption needs of the plant area. This project does not set up a backup power supply.
(2) Steam supply
This bamboo wood pellet mill project builds a biomass burner to provide heat source for the dryer to dry raw materials with a moisture content of more than 13% (about 30% of the total raw materials). It runs for about 2,240 hours per year and uses self-produced biomass pellets as fuel.
