The site of the straw pellet making line in Argentina project is a regular rectangle, 70m wide from east to west, 190.5m long from north to south, and covers an area of 13,333m2. According to the functional areas, it can be divided into office area, production workshop, and weighing room.

The production workshop is located in the southern area of the factory, the office area is located in the northeast corner of the factory, and the factory entrance is located in the middle area of the north side of the factory. The north side of the project is a township road, and the rest of the surrounding area is cultivated land.

Water Supply

The water source of the straw pellet making line in Argentina project is connected to the centralized water supply system and tap water.

Water consumption of the whole straw pellet plant:

  1. Domestic water: The water is mainly used for daily drinking water of 10 employees. The domestic water consumption of employees is 70L/person•d, so the domestic water consumption of the plant is 0.7m3/d (210m3/a).
  2. Road watering: The area of the factory road is about 1200m2. Based on 0.5L/m2/d, the road dust suppression water consumption is 0.60m3/d.

Total plant drainage

  1. Domestic sewage: The main drainage of the straw pellet production line project is domestic sewage. The discharge volume is calculated as 80% of the water consumption, so the sewage volume is 0.56t/d. Washing water is sprinkled on the spot, and the septic tank is emptied for fertilizing nearby fields.
  2. Production wastewater: No production wastewater is generated during the operation of the straw pellet plant project.

  1. Raw materials: The raw materials of this project are mainly straw, which are purchased from the surrounding towns and villages in the project area. The raw materials are transported to the raw material storage area in the factory area by vehicles. Some of the materials with higher moisture content are dried to a moisture content of ≤10% and then transferred to the raw material storage area.
  2. Feeder: The straw is fed into a 2m×2m feeder by a loader.
  3. Cutting: During production, the raw material straw is fed into the crusher through the crusher feed port for crushing. A crusher is installed in the production workshop of this project. The size of the crushed material is 10 cm long. This project operates 330 days a year, the crusher operates 24 hours a day, and the crusher production capacity is 4~5t/h.   4. Crushing: The crushed material needs to be further crushed and transported to the crusher by the transfer belt. The size of the crushed material is 8mm long.   5. Granulation: The crushed material is transported to the biomass pellet mill through a closed belt and made into a granular finished product in the straw pellet machine. The pellet machine is the key equipment of the production line of this project. The raw materials contain a certain amount of cellulose and lignin. Lignin is a structural monomer in the material and a high molecular compound. It has the function of strengthening the cell wall and bonding cellulose. Lignin is a non-crystalline material. At room temperature, the main part of it is insoluble in any solvent and has no melting point, but it has a softening point. When the temperature reaches a certain value, the lignin softens and the bonding force increases. Under a certain pressure, the cellulose molecular clusters are dislocated, deformed, and extended, and the adjacent biomass particles inside are meshed, recombined, and pressed into shape. The temperature during the pelletizing process is controlled at 60℃-80℃. This temperature is mainly caused by the friction between the materials under the high pressure of the compression process.
  6. Packaging: The size of the finished biomass pellets at the pellet machine outlet is 1cm-5cm long and 0.8cm in diameter. The cooled finished product is sent to the packaging machine through a conveyor belt for packaging and sale.
