This is a small sawdust pellet plant in UK project. The client of this project, an environmental technology company, signed a contract with RICHI in October 2023 to build a sawdust pellet plant project to produce biomass pellets using waste sawdust as raw material. Sawdust was originally a waste from sawdust processing, and improper disposal can lead to environmental pollution and waste. This project can not only reduce pollution but also recycle waste, which meets the requirements of sustainable development.

The client of this sawdust pelletizing line project uses the existing idle factory to build a pellet production line, which will produce 2,000 tons of sawdust pellet fuel annually. The main buildings of this project include production plants and supporting facilities. The staff of this project is 5 people, and the employees are nearby residents. They only eat lunch in the factory area and do not stay overnight. The project works 300 days a year.

The main construction content of this sawdust pellet plant in UK project mainly includes biomass pellet production plant, office area, and raw material storage area. The project uses local waste sawdust to extrude and mold biomass pellets. The project consists of a production plant and an office area.

The main entrance of this project is located in the southeast of the project. The project office area is located on the south side of the factory building, and the factory building is reasonably divided. Greenery is distributed around the factory building and living area.

The sawdust required for this production is purchased from outside, which contains 5% of large pieces of wood and wood chips that need to be crushed and processed into sawdust.

Based on the customer’s raw materials and needs, RICHI engineers designed the following processing flow for the sawdust pellet plant in UK project:

1. Screening and crushing

The belt conveyor has its own screening function, and the large pieces of raw materials in the sawdust are transported to the crusher for crushing and reuse. According to the information provided by the construction party, the raw materials to be crushed in the project account for 5% of the total raw materials, so the crushing capacity is 175t/a.

2. Drying

The granulation process has strict requirements on the moisture content of sawdust. Therefore, this UK sawdust wood pellet production line project is dried before granulation, strictly controlling the moisture content and drying all raw materials. In the drying process, the sawdust is transported to a fully enclosed drum sawdust dryer, and the hot flue gas of the drying furnace is introduced into the drying furnace through the induced draft fan for drying. The induced draft fan introduces all the sawdust and hot flue gas in the drum dryer into the water bath dust collector.

3. Granulation

The dried raw materials are conveyed to the feeding auger by a belt and sent to the pelletizer for pelleting. The sawdust wood pelletizer uses the moisture contained in the sawdust to press the sawdust into pellets by pure physical pressure, and the pelletizing process uses electric heating extrusion molding. The sawdust fuel pellet making machine is equipped with a dust removal device, and the dust generated is collected and reused in the production line.

4. Cooling

The pelletized sawdust pellets are conveyed to the cooling silo by belts for natural cooling.

5. Packaging

The cooled sawdust fuel is manually packaged and stored in the finished product area.

(1) Power supply

The power supply of this project is provided by the rural power grid, which can meet the power demand of the sawdust pellet plant in UK project.

(2) Water supply and drainage

Water supply: The water source of the site is tap water, which is used for construction and domestic water. The water supply system is used for daily life, greening, etc. The project water consumption is about 75m³/a, which can meet the needs of the project.

Drainage: The domestic sewage of this project is treated in a septic tank and used for fertilization and greening, and is not discharged.

(3) Fire protection system

The fire protection design implements the principle of “prevention first, prevention and control combined”, based on self-prevention and self-rescue. A variety of fire protection measures are taken for different buildings (structures) and facilities. The process design, equipment and material selection, plane layout, and fire escape passages are all implemented in accordance with relevant fire regulations. Fire design, fire electrical design, mobile fire extinguisher design, ventilation fire design, etc. are carried out for major locations and major electromechanical equipment.
