Chicken Feed Plant In Israel

Chicken Feed Plant In Israel

This is a 3-5t/h chicken feed plant in Israel project.

In March 2023, on an ordinary working day morning, we received an inquiry email from Tel Aviv. The email language is concise and clear, but the tone is direct and efficient, which is unique to Israelis: “I’m looking for a 3-5 ton per hour chicken feed pellet line. Kindly send me the details and quotation.”

The other party did not elaborate on the background, only leaving the email and contact information. However, our sales and technical teams are aware that customers who can take the initiative to purchase a complete feed production line in this rhythm are often those who already have a certain foundation in the local agricultural industry and are seeking breakthroughs.

In our view, this email is an opportunity for cooperation and a response to the transformation trend of Israel’s livestock and poultry industry. After more than a month of communication and full polishing of technical solutions and business details, we finally signed a contract worth $148,450 with this customer on April 18, 2023, to deliver a chicken feed pellet production line with a designed capacity of 3-5 tons/hour, configured as a turnkey project, covering the complete process from raw material feeding, crushing and mixing, pelleting and cooling to packaging and warehousing.

From the initial calm inquiry to the final decisive signing, this chicken feed plant in Israel is not only an equipment purchase, but also an in-depth practice of upgrading the regional poultry breeding model.

The customer of this chicken feed plant in Israelproject is located in the coastal plain area of central Israel and is an agricultural investor with many years of poultry farming experience. The customer manages three medium-sized laying hen farms and a broiler fattening base, with a total inventory of about 65,000 chickens, and has long relied on purchasing pellets from local large feed companies.

However, in recent years, with the intensified competition within the Israeli agricultural sector, frequent fluctuations in feed prices, and the client’s plan to further promote standardized farm management, he realized that if he wanted to gain a controllable cost advantage in the fierce livestock and poultry product market, he must get rid of his dependence on external feed supply.

After preliminary research, he came to a clear conclusion: setting up a self-owned poultry feed production line can not only reduce procurement costs, but also customize formulas according to different growth stages of chicken flocks, improve survival rate and egg production rate, and thus drive the profitability of the entire farm.

In addition, under the policy incentive of “farm-factory integration”, the Israeli government provides financial support and technical guidance to farmers to build their own processing systems. This customer took a decisive step and started the investment and construction plan of the chicken feed pellet line.

The core task of this chicken feed plant in Israel is to provide stable, controllable, and nutritionally customized pellet feed for the client’s own chicken flocks. The goal is to achieve 100% feed self-sufficiency within half a year and provide some processing services to farmers within 5 kilometers within two years.

Compared with countries with vast agricultural resources, Israel’s feed raw material sources have strong regional characteristics and intensive characteristics. In this chicken feed plant in Israel project, the main raw materials for chicken feed selected by the customer include the following categories:

  • Imported Corn Meal: Mainly imported corn from Ukraine, Brazil or the United States through the Port of Ashdod. Although the transportation cost is high, it has stable quality and sufficient calorific value, and is the main source of energy.
  • Soybean Meal: Israel does not produce soybeans locally, and mainly relies on imported soybean meal from South America. Customers often sign a six-month fixed price purchase agreement with two traders.
  • Wheat Bran: A by-product from domestic flour mills, it is relatively low-cost and high in fiber content, which can balance the cost of protein feed.
  • Sunflower Cake and Cottonseed Meal: Small batch by-products of local oil mills in Israel, used for protein supplementation, and are seasonal.
  • Calcium carbonate powder, bone meal and vitamin premixes: mainly supplied by local feed additive companies, and some are imported from Germany through joint ventures.
  • Corn Oil or Animal Fat: used to improve feed energy density and palatability.

Although the cost of raw material acquisition for this structure of feed ratio is slightly higher than that of agricultural countries, thanks to Israel’s leading advantages in precise nutritional ratio and automated control, the customer ensured the stability of feed ratio and controllability of cost through systematic procurement management and formulation model optimization.

This chicken feed plant in Israel adopts a single-line automated parallel process, and the core process is as follows:

  1. Raw material screening and impurity removal: After the imported raw materials are transported into the feeding bin through a spiral conveyor, the initial screening and iron removal are automatically completed to avoid damage to the crushing equipment.
  2. Crushing stage: The efficient hammer mill automatically adjusts the screen size according to the formula to ensure that the crushed particle size is adapted to the particle forming requirements. Controlled at a powder diameter of 300–600μm.
  3. Batch batching system: The four-bin gravity metering bin controlled by PLC is linked with the liquid feeding device. The error is controlled at ±0.3% to ensure the accurate proportion of each raw material.
  4. Double-axis paddle mixing system: The batch mixing time is 60 seconds to 90 seconds, and the CV value of mixing uniformity is less than 5%. Oils and trace elements are added simultaneously to improve the uniformity of nutrient distribution.
  5. Ring die granulation system: The core adopts a double-pressure wheel chicken feed pellet machine to make granules, with a ring die diameter of 320mm and a production capacity of 3-5t/h. The granulation temperature is controlled at 80-85℃ without destroying the vitamin components.
  6. Countercurrent cooling system: Rapidly cool to room temperature to avoid moisture or mildew of the granules.
  7. Granule screening and packaging system: Particles that do not meet the particle size standards automatically flow back to the granulation system, and the finished granules enter the double-scale automatic packaging machine to complete weighing, sewing and storage.

The biggest feature of this process layout is its compact structure and small footprint (the entire line equipment layout only requires 600 square meters), which is very suitable for the construction needs of countries with high land use density such as Israel; at the same time, its batch control system can store multiple formulas to meet the nutritional needs of chickens at different production stages.

Although the chicken feed plant in Israel project was developed around laying hen and broiler feed, compatibility settings were reserved at the beginning of equipment selection. Therefore, the production line has the following expansion capabilities:

  • Turkey feed pellets (Turkey Feed): Israel has the highest per capita turkey consumption in the world, and mass production can be carried out with the mold adaptation.
  • Layer feed with high calcium formula (Layer Feed): It can improve eggshell hardness and egg production rate.
  • Aquatic pellets (sinking fish feed): It can be achieved with a slight parameter adjustment and mold replacement.
  • Rabbit feed, pigeon feed and quail pellets: Meet the needs of special poultry breeding.
  • Pet feed coarse pellet base material: It can be used for dog food pellet basic processing.

This multi-processing capability means that a chicken feed plant in Israel mainly used for chicken feed can be transformed into a multi-category animal feed processing platform in the future, enhancing the return on investment.

The chicken feed plant in Israel project adopts the “standard configuration + expandable module” model in terms of equipment configuration, which not only ensures the smooth operation of the project in the early stage, but also reserves space for functional upgrades. The main equipment is as follows:

  • Crushing system: 9FQ high-efficiency hammer mill, equipped with dust removal and cooling air delivery system.
  • Batching system: four-bin gravity weighing batching system, including liquid feeding components.
  • Mixing system: SSHJ double-shaft high-efficiency mixer, with high mixing accuracy between batches.
  • Pelletizing system: SZLH320 ring die poultry feed pellet making machine with double-layer conditioner to improve the degree of maturation.
  • Cooling system: SKLN series countercurrent cooler, energy-saving and environmentally friendly.
  • Screening system: drum rotary screen, high efficiency and high particle classification accuracy.
  • Packaging system: dual-scale automatic weighing and packaging integrated machine, compatible with 10-50kg bags.

The whole set of poultry feed mill equipment is centrally controlled by the PLC system, realizing “one-button start, one-button stop” and status monitoring functions, which is suitable for local engineers to quickly master and maintain.

Israel’s poultry industry is famous for its intensive management and high egg production rate. As the largest factor in the cost of the industry, feed has long been highly dependent on the centralized supply of several large feed groups.

However, with the market’s increasing requirements for refined and customized breeding, small and medium-sized breeders have gradually realized that “raising well” is not just a matter of chicken breeds, but also depends on “feeding accurately”. Especially in the hot and dry summer, bulk general-purpose feeds often cannot accurately match the actual needs of poultry in terms of palatability and energy density.

The commissioning of this chicken feed plant in Israel project has just filled this gap. Customers can not only provide different egg-laying cycle formulas for their own laying hens, but also provide protein-type, brooding-type, calcium-supplemented and other granular feeds for local cooperative farms. More importantly, as Israel’s open chicken houses transform into closed temperature-controlled chicken houses in the future, the requirements for palatability, balance and stability of pellet feed will become higher and higher, and small customized feed mills will find more market opportunities in this trend.

After signing the contract, the customer expressed to us: “In Israel, it’s not just about production, it’s about control. This feed line gives me control.” In Israel, land is precious, water resources are scarce, and labor is expensive, but agriculture carries multiple meanings of food security, ecological stability and even national security. Therefore, every agricultural investor will pay special attention to “system controllability” – whether it is controllable raw materials, controllable formula, controllable quality, or controllable cost.

This 3-5t/h chicken feed plant in Israel represents not only a simple process operation, but also the construction of a set of agricultural controllable systems. It allows customers to transform from breeders to “nutrition designers” and farms to transform from feed dependents to “supply nodes.”

Israel’s annual per capita consumption of eggs and poultry meat ranks among the highest in the world, and the total demand for poultry feed is as high as 2.5 million tons/year, of which pellet feed accounts for more than 60%. However, there are currently only 6 large feed factories dominating the market, and there is an obvious centralized supply gap.

Against this background, a medium-sized, flexible, and self-controlled animal feed production line like this project can not only become the nutritional core of self-use farms, but also gradually develop into a regional feed supply hub.

With the official commissioning of the chicken feed mill plant project in July 2023, the customer has begun to apply for the “Smart Agricultural Equipment Investment Rebate Fund” funding program of the Israeli Ministry of Agriculture, and is preparing to apply for halal certification and EU organic feed registration, and plans to expand export channels to the Palestinian region and Cyprus market in the future.

In this small factory, bags of pellet feed fill the shelves, and the customer’s face is full of confidence. This is not a simple chicken feed plant in Israel, but an important puzzle in Israel’s agricultural ecology-it may look ordinary, but it is quietly reshaping the breeding logic and farm economy on an entire piece of land.
