RICHI Machinery has successfully commissioned South America’s first industrial-scale paper cat litter pellet plant in São Paulo, Brazil. This innovative 8 T/H facility transforms recycled office paper and cardboard waste into ultra-absorbent, flushable cat litter pellets, addressing the region’s growing demand for sustainable pet products.
The production line features RICHI’s specialized low-temperature pulping system that preserves paper fiber integrity, coupled with dual-stage extrusion technology creating a unique porous pellet structure. The plant implements proprietary antimicrobial treatment during conditioning, eliminating the need for chemical additives while ensuring 99.7% bacterial reduction.
With an annual capacity of 12,000 metric tons, the facility sources raw materials from municipal recycling programs across Brazil’s major cities. The pellets’ rapid-dissolving characteristics have already captured 30% of Brazil’s premium cat litter market within six months of operation. This project demonstrates how waste paper valorization can create high-value products while reducing landfill pressure in developing economies.
