Peanut Shell Wood Biomass Pellet plant In Nigeria

Peanut Shell Wood Biomass Pellet plant In Nigeria

This is a peanut shell wood biomass pellet plant in Nigeria project.

As the global energy structure transforms towards low-carbon and renewable energy, Nigeria, as the most populous country in Africa with huge economic development potential, is also actively promoting the development and utilization of clean energy.

The project was initiated by a local enterprise with agricultural waste resource advantages. It aims to make full use of its abundant biomass resources such as peanut shells and sawdust to build a biomass pellet production line with an annual output of 10,000 tons and a capacity of 4 tons/hour.

The biomass wood pellet production line adopts advanced ring die pelletizing technology to produce high-density pellet fuel with a diameter of 30mm and a length of 50mm, which is used for local industrial boilers, heating systems and export markets.

The labor quota of this peanut shell wood biomass pellet plant in Nigeria project is 12 people, with 300 working days per year, 1 shift, and 8 hours per shift.

1. On-site resource conversion, turning waste into treasure: The customer has been engaged in agricultural product processing for a long time and has a large number of peanut shells and wood processing scraps, which were mostly piled up or incinerated in the past, causing waste and pollution. By building a peanut shell wood biomass pellet plant in Nigeria, high-value utilization of waste can be achieved.

2. Replace traditional energy and reduce costs: Against the backdrop of rising prices of fossil energy such as diesel and coal, biomass pellets, as an alternative fuel, have lower costs, more stable supply, and significant economic benefits.

3. Expand export business and open up international markets: With the growing demand for environmentally friendly fuels in Europe, the United States and the Middle East, the export market for pellet fuels has great potential. Customers plan to use part of their production capacity for export to improve profitability.

4. Respond to policy guidance and obtain environmental protection support: The Nigerian government is promoting the development of the renewable energy industry and supporting companies to invest in clean energy projects. Customers expect to obtain policy dividends such as tax exemptions and green certification through this project.

① Physical and chemical properties and toxicological properties of main raw and auxiliary materials

The raw materials used in this peanut shell wood biomass pellet plant in Nigeria project are non-toxic, odorless, non-polluting and non-radioactive.

Due to the capillary effect of the fiber structure, the water inside the system is quickly transferred to the surface and interface of the slurry, so that the water inside the slurry is evenly distributed and the crusting phenomenon is significantly reduced. And the bonding strength and surface strength are significantly improved. This mechanism also plays a significant role in crack resistance due to the reduction of tension during the drying process.

② Source of raw materials for the project

Taking into account the supply of raw materials and logistics costs and other factors, in general, biomass raw materials are collected from agricultural and forestry production and wood processing waste within a radius of 50km around the plant site. Different raw material characteristics determine different collection methods. In the raw material collection, storage and transportation link, the raw material collection method will directly determine the storage mode and transportation plan of the raw materials.

Peanut shells are seasonal, and their acquisition cycle is synchronized with their acquisition season. Wood chips are scraps from other wood processing companies. There is no seasonality and they can be continuously acquired all year round. Year-round acquisition can be achieved by signing a waste acquisition agreement with relevant processing companies.

Most of the straw-type raw materials such as peanut shells are placed in the fields. Since the above soft straw resources are widely distributed in the planting areas, their ownership belongs to thousands of households and the enterprises purchase them directly from farmers.

The main industries in the area where this peanut shell wood biomass pellet plant in Nigeria project is located are agriculture, peanut planting and board processing enterprises. The farmers and enterprises around the project provide sufficient raw material guarantee for this project.

During the crop maturity period, the straw-type raw materials such as peanut shells are dried and bundled by farmers themselves (moisture content 10%~15%) and sent to the raw material warehouse of this project. The waste wood generated by the board processing enterprises is also regularly transported to the raw material warehouse by relevant individuals and enterprises.

  1. Crushing: The larger materials such as peanut shells used in this project are crushed. The crushed materials and fine particles such as wood chips enter the magnetic separation process.
  2. Magnetic separation: The crushed raw materials are magnetically attracted by the large magnetic suction block above the conveyor belt.
  3. Pelletizing: The crushed mixture enters the biomass peanut shell pellet machine for extrusion granulation, and the powder is extruded into a columnar finished product.
  4. Finished product: During the extrusion granulation process, the biomass generates a certain temperature, and enters the finished product warehouse after natural cooling on the conveyor belt, and is directly packaged in bags.

(1) Water supply

The water used in this peanut shell wood biomass pellet plant in Nigeria project is mainly domestic water. After the project is completed, the labor quota is 12 people, one shift, 8 hours per shift, 300 days per year, no food and accommodation are provided, and the water consumption is 0.6t/d and 180t/a based on 50L/person•day.

(2) Drainage

The wastewater of this project is mainly domestic sewage. After the project is completed, the labor quota is 12 people, one shift, 8 hours per shift, 300 days per year, no food and accommodation are provided, and the amount of domestic sewage generated is calculated as 80% of the water consumption, which is 0.48t/d and 144t/a. The domestic sewage is treated in the septic tank and regularly cleaned and fertilized, and is not discharged.

Nigeria is rich in agricultural resources and produces a large amount of renewable biomass raw materials such as peanut shells, palm shells, rice husks, sawdust, etc. every year, which has the natural advantage of developing the biomass pellet fuel industry.

At the same time, the country’s huge industrial energy demand and unstable power supply make distributed biomass fuel a realistic alternative. In addition, with the rising demand for environmentally friendly fuels in the international market, Nigeria has the potential to become an export hub for biomass pellets in Africa.

It is expected that driven by government policy support, continuous improvement of technology and continuous market expansion, biomass pellet production lines will usher in broad development space in Nigeria in the future.
