However, the client faced challenges with consistent product quality and rising costs from third-party feed suppliers. Their strategic decision was to backward-integrate by establishing their own state-of-the-art feed production facility to secure their supply chain, control quality, and reduce costs.

After an extensive global search for a technology partner in early 2022, the client selected RICHI Machinery based on our proven track record in designing and delivering high-capacity, reliable feed production lines tailored to Southeast Asian conditions. Our initial consultation focused on their specific product mix—20,000 TPY shrimp feed, 100,000 TPY fish feed, and 60,000 TPY pig feed—and raw material profile. The primary raw materials include:

  • Grains: Broken rice and corn, abundantly available from local sources.
  • Additives: Vitamins, minerals, binders, and other nutritional supplements imported from trusted international suppliers.

All raw materials are stored in a dedicated, ventilated warehouse designed to prevent spoilage and cross-contamination, with a robust inventory management system to ensure FIFO (First-In, First-Out) usage.

This complete animal feed production line incorporates advanced processing steps to ensure digestibility, durability, and nutritional value.

Process Flow Description:

  1. Receiving & Grinding: Raw materials are received, weighed, and initially cleaned. They are then conveyed to RICHI hammer mills and micro-pulverizers for precise reduction to the optimal particle size, critical for digestion and pellet quality.
  2. Batching & Mixing: Ground materials are accurately batched by a computerized system into a RICHI double-shaft paddle mixer. Here, fats, liquids, and micro-ingredients are added for a perfectly homogeneous blend.
  3. Conditioning & Pelleting/Extruding: The mixed mash is fed into a conditioner where steam is added to hydrate and cook the mixture. For shrimp and fish feed, the material is processed through a RICHI twin-screw extruder, which cooks it under high pressure and temperature, creating floating or sinking pellets. For pig feed, the material is pelleted using heavy-duty animal feed pellet mills.
  4. Drying & Cooling: The hot, moist pellets from the feed extruder or animal feed mill pellet machine are conveyed to a horizontal dryer and subsequently to a counter-flow cooler to reduce moisture and temperature to safe, stable levels.
  5. Coating & Packaging: The cooled pellets pass through a coating drum where liquid additives (like oils or flavors) are applied. The finished product is then weighed and packaged automatically by RICHI electronic packing scales into various bag sizes.

Steam condensate and other process waters are treated and reused for cooling or site irrigation, minimizing freshwater consumption.
