Overview
Germany is one of the birthplaces of biomass pellets, and biomass pellets have been commercially produced in Germany. Germany, Sweden, Denmark and other countries are in a leading position in the biomass pellet industry, and the market demand is stable and growing. With the improvement of environmental awareness and policy support, the market demand for biomass pellets as a clean energy to replace traditional fossil fuels continues to grow.
In addition, the German government has given strong support to the biomass pellet industry and provided a number of preferential policies, including tax exemptions and subsidies, to promote the production and application of biomass pellets. These policy measures not only reduce production costs, but also promote the rapid development of the biomass pellet market.
In this context, the client of the project, an agricultural company, seized the market opportunity and invested 640,000 US dollars to build a 30,000-ton biomass pellet project (constructed in two phases, with a capacity of 12,000 tons in the first phase and 18,000 tons in the second phase. After the completion of the second phase of the project, the total capacity is 30,000 tons).
The biomass pellet plant in Germany project has a total of 18 laborers during the operation period, including 8 in the first phase and 10 in the second phase. This biomass wood straw rice husk pellet plant project has no accommodation, but has an employee canteen to provide lunch and dinner. A two-shift 16-hour work system is implemented, with 300 working days per year.

Power supply
After the completion of the high grade 5-6t/h biomass pellet plant in Germany project, the annual power consumption is about 350,000 kwh, of which the first phase of the project consumes 150,000 kwh and the second phase of the project consumes 200,000 kwh. The power supply is provided by the municipal power supply station, and the power supply is sufficient to meet the production and living power needs of the project.
Water supply
The water used by the project comes from the municipal water supply network. After the completion of the project, the total annual water consumption is 210t, of which the annual water consumption of the first phase of the project is 168t and the annual water consumption of the second phase of the project is 210t.
Drainage
The biomass pellet manufacturing plant adopts a rainwater and sewage diversion drainage system. The project rainwater is discharged into the municipal rainwater network through the plant rainwater pipe; the project wastewater is domestic sewage. After pre-treatment in the plant grease trap and septic tank to meet the “Comprehensive Sewage Discharge Standard”, it is discharged into the sewage treatment plant through the municipal sewage network for deep treatment. After the treatment meets the standard, it is finally discharged into the local river.

Analysis of rationality of plane layout
The total area of this biomass pellet plant in Germany project is 6996m2, and the construction area is 4226 square meters. The project will build a production workshop (Phase I construction, Phase I and Phase II jointly use), located on the north side of the factory area, and build a 2F comprehensive building (Phase I construction, Phase I and Phase II jointly use), located on the south side of the factory area.
The south side of the production workshop is Phase I, where one biomass pellet production line is laid out, and the raw material stacking area and finished product stacking area are located on the east and west sides of the workshop; the north side of the production workshop is Phase II, where one biomass pellet production line is laid out, and the raw material stacking area and finished product stacking area are located on the west and east sides of the workshop.
The biomass pellet production line of this project adopts a straight line layout and assembly line production. The raw material and finished product stacking areas are located on both sides of the production line, which is convenient for material transportation and production.
The entrance of the factory is located on the south side, and there is a ring road in the factory area, which separates the traffic and pedestrian flow. The factory area of this project has a reasonable layout and smooth logistics. The sanitary conditions, transportation, safety, and fire protection all meet the needs of the enterprise and industry requirements.

Brief description of process flow
Construction period Process flow
The biomass pellet plant in Germany project is divided into two phases, but the production workshop and the comprehensive building are completed in the first phase.
- Foundation engineering: mainly includes earthwork (excavation, filling), foundation treatment and foundation engineering construction.
- Main engineering: refers to the load-bearing structure system based on the foundation, which accepts, bears and transmits all upper loads of the construction project and maintains the integrity, stability and safety of the structure.
- Decoration engineering: use various processing machinery to carry out simple decoration inside the workshop.
- Equipment installation: including the installation of various production equipment and pollution control facilities, etc.
Brief description of the biomass pellet process flow
The product of this biomass pellet plant in Germany project is biomass solidification fuel biomass energy, and its production process flow is briefly described as follows:
(1) Iron removal
The raw materials purchased for the biomass pellet making plant project are straw, rice husks and sawdust of various crops. First, the raw materials are transported to the permanent magnetic cylinder through the raw material elevator (enclosed belt conveyor, dust-free) to remove the iron impurities contained in the raw materials to protect the subsequent biomass pellet mill.
(2) Crushing
The raw materials after iron removal are transported to the crusher through a conveyor for crushing. The particle size of the crushed biomass material should be less than 4mm.
(3) Drying
The crushed material is sent to the biomass dryer through a conveyor for drying. Drying is to send the biomass coarse material with a moisture content greater than 15% into the dryer (electric heating) for drying. The wind speed of the airflow dryer main pipe is 20-25m/s, and the total length of the pipeline is not less than 60m. The hot air temperature at the feed inlet is adjusted according to the moisture content and feed speed of the feed. The drying temperature is 70℃~150℃, and the moisture content of the output material is about 15%.
(4) Granulation
The screened fine material is sent to the biomass granulator (using electricity) through a conveyor belt and extruded and granulated at a high temperature of 85℃. The diameter of the pressed biomass pellets is 6mm or 8mm, the length is 1 to 5 times the diameter, and the moisture content is below 8%.
(5) Cooling
The pressed biomass pellets are sent to the pellet cooler through the pellet elevator. The purpose is to cool the formed biomass pellets by air cooling. Because the biomass pellets have been formed, basically no dust will be generated during the cooling process.
(6) Screening
The cooled biomass pellets are sent to the pellet screening machine through the elevator for further screening. The purpose is to screen out the uncompacted pellets and return the unqualified products to the biomass pelletizing machine for re-pelleting.
(7) Packaging
After screening, the qualified biomass pellets are lifted by the pellet elevator to the finished product warehouse for storage. When needed, they are weighed by the packaging scale and packed into bags, which are then stored as finished products for sale.
Biomass pellets are mainly wood chips or wood scraps, agricultural and forestry waste, etc., which are squeezed into rod-shaped biomass pellet fuel by the pressure of the biomass pellet making machine. After the biomass is compressed and formed, its volume is greatly reduced, making it easier to transport, store and use, solving the key problem of large-scale utilization of biomass.
The prospects for processing biomass pellets in Germany are very broad, with significant market potential and policy support. Germany’s biomass pellet industry chain is relatively complete, with mature channels and models for reference from raw material procurement to product sales. This provides convenience for new entrants, reduces market entry barriers, and promotes the healthy development of the industry.
In addition to this high grade 5-6t/h biomass pellet plant in Germany in Germany project, we have also established projects such as Germany 8 Tons/hour Automatic Biomass Wood Pellet Plant, 2-2.5 T/H Wood Pellet Machine Germany Project, 4T/H Pig Cow Chicken Manure Organic Fertilizer Manufacturing Plant in Germany.
