RICHI MACHINERY has successfully commissioned a 1.5 T/H shrimp feed extrusion line in southern Thailand, supporting local aquaculture operations with high-quality, floating shrimp pellets.
Market Background
Shrimp farming is a key economic activity in Thailand, with both domestic and export markets demanding high-quality feed to optimize growth, survival rates, and feed conversion efficiency. Floating feed is critical for surface-feeding species, allowing farmers to monitor consumption and minimize waste.
Raw Material and Formulation
The feed formula includes:
- Fishmeal and soybean meal for protein
- Wheat and corn for energy
- Vitamins and minerals
- Oil coating for energy and palatability
Pellet density, buoyancy, and durability are critical for ensuring feeding efficiency and survival rates in shrimp ponds.
Process Design
The extrusion line is designed with:
- Micro-batching system for precise ingredient dosing
- Fine grinding for uniform particle size
- Twin-screw extruder for shaping and cooking
- Multi-layer drying for moisture control
- Vacuum oil coating system
- Cooling, screening, and packaging
The line achieves stable production at 1.5 T/H, with pellets maintaining flotation for over 12 hours and minimal fines.
Installation and Commissioning
Installation began in November 2025 and concluded in December. Trial production confirmed consistent pellet quality, buoyancy, and oil absorption. RICHI engineers provided full operator training on extrusion parameters, maintenance, and quality control.
Impact on Aquaculture Efficiency
The facility enables local farms to reduce reliance on imported feed, improve shrimp growth performance, and enhance operational sustainability. This project strengthens RICHI’s presence in Southeast Asia’s aquaculture feed sector.
